Building a Brighter Future for the Gude People

The Gude (Cheke) People are a proud ethnic group with a rich history of craftsmanship and community spirit. We are united in our mission to empower our people through education, skills, and peace.

Our Heritage

The Gude People

The Gude (Cheke) People are of Chadic Afro-Asiatic Ethnic Group located in Mubi South Local Government. The Gude People share common ancestry with Fali and Nzanyi.

Currently, they are administratively located in 3 Districts namely: Lamorde, Gude (Gella) and Yadafa in Mubi South Local Government. Gude people are found all over Nigeria and in parts of Cameroon.

Historically, they are a proud people and known warriors. The Gude are basically farmers and produce handicrafts. Textile fabrics produced by the Gude people have historically been used by royalty in different parts of Nigeria and Cameroon.

The Foundation

Why We Exist

The GUDE Community Development Foundation was initiated by the current District Head of Lamorde, Abduljalal Abdullahi Lamorde, and co-founded by District Heads of Gella and Yadafa.

Our aim is to unite the Gude people to take responsibility for improving their wellbeing. The District Heads are well aware of the peculiar challenges of poverty, the adverse economic impact of Boko Haram Insurgency from 2013-2014, as well as the surging population of unemployed and poorly educated youths.

Our Purpose

Foundation Objectives

To promote access to quality education by supporting scholarships, provision of learning materials, school infrastructure development, academic competitions, and community sensitisation on the importance of education, particularly in rural areas.

To empower youths and women economically through skills acquisition programmes, entrepreneurship development, vocational training, and support for small business start-ups.

To reduce unemployment and poverty by facilitating access to funding, partnerships, and capacity-building initiatives for sustainable livelihoods, including agriculture and agro-based enterprises.

To promote peace, social cohesion, and community security through collaboration with relevant agencies, conflict-resolution initiatives, youth engagement, and public enlightenment programmes.

To collaborate with government agencies, development partners, and other stakeholders in the implementation of educational, economic, social, and community development initiatives aligned with the Foundation's aims.
